Paddling Big Shoals to Branford on Florida's Suwannee River

After a great inaugural trip down the Suwannee River in late March, Paddle Florida is doing it again in November.

This November week on the Suwannee (8th through the 15th) will start farther upriver at Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park in White Springs and finish in Branford. As many as 200 paddlers will be "going with the flow," averaging 13 miles per day and camping at riverside parks along the way.

More information about the March trip -- and of course the upcoming November trip -- is at the website (www.paddleflorida.org), At the same site there is also a first-person account of the trip by a Florida Bicycle Association Messenger newsletter reporter (happens to be me, but I've tried to be objective -- really).

This blog, the newly created forum and the Paddle Florida website are three places you can go to keep up-to-date on Paddle Florida and its participants, and share or request information about your paddling and touring passions. I hope you will take advantage.

Meanwhile, dust the cobwebs and scrape the barnacles off your boat and get ready for Paddle Florida this November.
